Saying that she gasped when she read the enclosed passage [not present] from Peyser's book [on Leonard Bernstein], recalling that not long before Bernstein's death, she and Norman [Podhoretz] were at a party honoring Elie Wiesel and Bernstein "planted a wet, open-mouthed kiss on Norman's mouth," adding that Podhoretz later said that he experienced the kiss "as the most malicious physical assault he had ever experienced," etc.
